Educational methods

The Indian Village International Preshool and Kindergarten aims to ensure the children’s smooth bodily, spiritual and intellectual development by safe, homely, loving, patient atmosphere as its fundamental condition. To create this environment our aims are to use personalised educational and developmental methods which take their cue from the children’s abilities. We welcome children of all nationalities. We endeavour to uphold any child’s national tradition and to acquaint it with the other children so as to make them able to become receptive adults who respect others’ cultural values. Our basic principle is child-centeredness; we respect the children’s personal needs and developmental pace, we create the opportunity for experience, cognition, and creation for them. Our aim is to cooperate with parents in order to provide the best possible conditions for building the children’s emotional safety, to contribute to their carefree, playful, happy childhood.

The building that houses the kindergarten is built of natural materials in the style of organic architecture. Its aesthetical surrounding of a high standard is in harmony with our educational aims. The building is located in one of the most beautiful, easily accessible parts of Buda, in a quiet, dead-end street. The woods of the Buda Protected Landscape Area are nearby and the air is very clean.

Among our pedagogical aims we place great emphasis on the followings:

  1. Healthy living
  2. Environmental protection
  3. Creativity
  4. Language
  5. Music
  6. Physical education

1. Healthy living

The bases of the healthy way of life are regular and varied body exercises and quality organic food and drinks with no chemicals and preservatives. We consider the regular eating of raw vegetables and fruit important. The hilly landscape gives opportunity to satisfy and form the need for various movements. During playful activities we will acquaint the children with different sports (swimming, horse riding, skiing, etc.)
Regular medical and dental examination will be provided. Physiotherapist, orthopaedist will help us in preventing the forming of a wrong posture, preventing thus the pain in muscles and joints that usually appear later in schools. The Indian Village Kindergarten is proud to offer its own relaxation salt room, which is very efficient in curing allergic symptoms (sneezing, coughing, itching) or illnesses of the respiratory tracts (cold, sore throat, coughing). The medical literature recommends it as an important relaxation method for hyperactive children, as well.

2. Environmental protection

Children can be taught how to protect our environment, how to save energy, drinking water, all the treasures of the world at an early age. The actively spent hours in the garden and the hikes in the nearby forest serve this purpose, when we become acquainted with the flora and fauna of our garden and the woods. In terms with environmental awareness we select the waste, recycle, pile compost used later in the kindergarten’s own vegetable and flower garden.

3. Creativity

Our aim is to develop manual skills, creativity and an appreciation of the arts. We would like to raise the need for activities with tools and materials using various techniques, to free children’s imagination. We will encourage their attempts in realising their ideas, thus raising the joy of creation through feeling of success.

4. Language

We put great emphasis on language teaching.

In a relaxed and stress-free environment we introduce the English language as a foreign language to children of a very early age (ages 2 to 7) in a fun, playful and meaningful way.

Qualified English teacher along with excited and curious children explore the ’unknown world’ of a new language.

When choosing topics and activities for our ’exploration’ (classroom) we consider the age characteristics, needs, interests, likes and dislikes of our children in order to make the English language acquisition an enjoyable experience for the young learners.

Toys, pictures, illustrations, physical excercises and all kinds of movements are constantly used to enhance general understanding of the new language and to make them communicate.

The children learn rhymes, riddles and songs. They listen to various stories and fairy tales. They play games, role-plays and they do art projects. They also learn about the cultural background of the foreign language, namely what children of English speaking countries do, play and celebrate. This way they are able to recognise the similarities and differencies of the two cultures.

We do our best to make little kids like the new language and we try to pave the way for a hopefully lifelong experience of acquiring and using English as a major source of communication worldwide.

5. Music

The musical activities enhance the development of many other abilities, as well.

6. Physical Education

Sport is an essential part of our daily program, playing a vital role in children’s wellbeing and self development. A sense of team spirit, competitiveness, physical movement and good posture are created through indoor and outdoor sports and play whether in the classroom, in our gymnasium, in our own swimming pool, or in our huge playground. In terms of versatility we have chosen many different training systems as sources for our exercises, which are adjusted to children of this age. ( creative dance, swimming, tennis, skiing, ballet, folkdance, horse riding, Japanese martial arts, yoga for children)
